EV Charging in Rural Areas

April 21, 2020 by

Clean Air Partnership is hosting a webinar where we will see examples of a community-led approach to regional EV charging networks. Jen Grebeldinger, from Community Energy, BC will present their work on Accelerate Kootenays and Peaks To Prairies. These two projects from BC and Alberta highlight municipal and regional government actions to accelerate EV adoption. They demonstrated that small, rural communities could make a more significant impact and avoid islands of connectivity by collaborating; this maximizes co-benefits for rural communities in terms of tourism but also ensures connectivity for EV drivers (removing range anxiety). The strategy used in both projects has shown to be replicable so that other rural jurisdictions can follow.
