Zero Carbon Whitby Costing Study Methodology
Municipalities can reduce GHG emissions and realize financial savings by embedding low-carbon work into their existing asset management schedules and budgets. Following our workshop from October 2022, we shared the results from the Zero Carbon Whitby & Costing Study (find the webinar recording here). Zero Carbon Whitby is Whitby’s Corporate Climate Action Plan – a framework empowering staff to develop and implement GHG reduction actions from the bottom-up, aligning capital and operating budgets with emission reduction targets. In this webinar, SSG will present the methodology and assumptions used in the Study. In addition, we will explore how transferable this method is across municipalities.
Workshop: Applying an Equity Lens to Green Development Standards and Low Carbon Planning
On April 13th, join the Clean Air Partnership as we discuss how to apply an equity lens to Green Development Standards (GDS) and low carbon planning. We will examine questions such as: what are the equity benefits of GDS and low carbon planning? Who currently benefits from low carbon buildings? What negative impacts might these initiatives have?
This workshop is the second in a five-part series exploring climate and equity synergies. The series builds off CAP’s Climate and Equity Synergies Resource Hub, which is intended to track input and actions from across the network and support municipalities with their climate action plans. The hub is intended to be a living, continuously updated resource, and we welcome any feedback or additional examples we can share of climate actions that advance equity. Comments or contributions can be submitted here.
