Methane Emission Mitigation by Municipalities

October 21, 2022 by

“The greenhouse gas footprint of shale gas is worse than that of coal, when methane emissions are considered and compared to carbon dioxide over an integrated 20-year time period…”

Don’t miss our very special guest and methane expert Professor Robert Howarth as he explains the contribution of methane to climate change and dispels claims about blue hydrogen as a solution in the climate battle. Professor Howarth and webinar host Bruce F Nagy will review ideas for municipalities to contribute to the effort to reduce methane by managing food waste and landfill processes, supporting oil and gas well capping and better agriculture practices. Methane emission mitigation is one of our most crucial climate strategies for the 2030s.

Cornell’s Professor Robert Howarth is an internationally renowned research scientist, professor of ecology & environmental biology, journal editor and advisor to governments. Time Magazine named him in its “50 People who Matter” 2011 Person of the Year issue. He was a speaker at COP26 and is currently at work on New York State’s Climate Action Council. He has published over 200 scientific papers, and his work has been cited in thousands more.
