The revamping of Six Points Junction in Toronto opened up public lands to build a new Etobicoke Civic Centre, expand park land, and construct approximately 1,200 new homes.
It is proposed that all heating and cooling needs of these new homes will be provided by a low-carbon thermal district energy network.
Six Points site will have a network of boreholes shared across multiple buildings and customers, making it less like a single appliance for a building and more like an energy network. The system will provide clean heating and cooling for all the new buildings in the area and will do so without making the city or residents pay a huge premium.
