Please join an upcoming information session and workshop to learn about an upcoming primer on embodied carbon policy considerations for municipal governments. This primer will be the final output from a year-long project supported by The Atmospheric Fund (TAF) and carried out by The City of Toronto’s Planning Department, the climate consultancy Mantle Developments, and the University of Toronto’s Ha/f Design Studio.
The project undertook the first benchmarking of large (part 3) building embodied carbon assessments in Ontario. The team will share their findings and present their draft recommendations to policymakers who may be interested to develop new policies linked to the building approvals process to manage and reduce embodied carbon from construction. There will be an opportunity for small breakout discussions in a workshop format, plus a larger open discussion so participants can share their feedback and experiences on this important and increasingly urgent topic.
