Toronto and Region Inter-governmental Declaration on Clean Air

The Declaration was established at the first Smog Summit in 2000, where it was signed by the City of Toronto, the Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada.

The Declaration outlined actions the three orders of government were taking to improve air quality and committed all parties to ongoing annual Summits.

Now heading into its sixth year, the Declaration sets the stage for ongoing dialogue through the work of the GTA Clean Air Council.

The GTA Clean Air Council member jurisdictions meet throughout the year to implement the Declaration items, follow-up on initiatives announced at the Smog Summit, and develop the Declaration for the following year.
