Smog Summit 2004
The fifth annual Smog Summit was held on June 21, with a focus on the natural and built environment. Government leaders reported on new and ongoing initiatives, which was followed by a municipal roundtable discussion. A facilitated public discussion ensued, which gave participants an opportunity to participate in the air quality dialogue.

An added highlight of the 2004 Summit was the Natural and Built Environment exhibit held in the rotunda and square of Metro Hall. The exhibit featured over 50 indoor and outdoor booths of community organizations, businesses and governments with information on practical tools to help clean the air.

Five pre-Summit community forums were held throughout the GTA on either energy efficiency or greening initiatives. The energy efficiency forums incorporated practical tools residents can use to decrease their energy use at home, while the greening initiatives forums focused on strategies such as strategic tree planting and low-water gardening, to reduce energy use and improve air quality.

Funders for the 2004 Smog Summit included: Enbridge Gas Distribution, Toronto Hydro, Government of Canada, Province of Ontario, City of Toronto, Toronto Atmospheric Fund, and the GTA Clean Air Council.
