2008 “Give Us Your Air Pollution Solution”
Wanted:
Grade 5 students and teachers
Essay, Poster and Performance Contest
Air pollution affects everyone in the Greater Toronto Area. The fossil fuels we use to serve our needs and create our goods contributes to smog and climate change. Think about what you think we need to do to solve air pollution and then:
- Write about 250 words;
- Draw a poster; and/or
- Develop and record a performance, skit, or rap on DVD.
Tell us what you and your family will do to save energy and reduce air pollution and climate change. This might include walking and biking more, driving less, conserving energy by turning off lights, TVs and computers, turning the heat down, using fans instead of air conditioners…the possibilities are endless! Students are also encouraged to tell us what advice they would give family, friends, and/or businesses and politicians to reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
Prizes
Winners will be chosen on the basis of creativity, practicality, originality, and clarity of ideas.
- Top 3 winners in EACH of the Essay, Poster and Performance categories will receive cash prizes of: $100, $75, $50.
- Honourable mentions will receive gift certificates and prizes.
