The Ontario Ministry of the Environment has released a report titled Adapting to Climate Change in Ontario: Towards the Design and Implementation of a Strategy and Action Plan, authored by Ontario’s Expert Panel on Climate Change Adaptation. The report lists a broad range of recommendations to help Ontario understand climate change impacts, reduce risks and take advantage of beneficial opportunities resulting from climate change.

Canadian Society of Landscape Architects Annual Conference

Nancy Smith Lea, Active Transportation Director for the Clean Air Partnership, and Program Director for the Toronto Coalition for Active Transportation, a project of the Clean Air Partnership, was invited to speak in the session "Removing Highways, Building Cities" alongside renowned architects John Amodeo and Ken Greenberg. Nancy spoke about reducing barriers to active transportation such as those posed by Toronto's Gardiner Expressway. Her talk provided first-hand experiences faced by cyclists and pedestrians, including a video that documents challenges in crossing Highway 401 from the handlebars of a bicycle. Solutions for active transportation around highways being implemented in other cities were also shown.
