The Toronto Centre for Active Transportation (TCAT) has just released their 9th video for their It’s Your Move campaign. The It’s Your Move campaign is a campaign launched by TCAT to promote the importance of using the 25% of funding set aside by Metrolinx for local transportation initiatives and to use a dedicated portion of that 25% for “local walking and cycling projects.” The It’s Your Move campaign is a video series that highlights the many benefits attributed towards cities and its people through active transportation. Each of the videos in the campaign features a “leader living in the Halton, York, Peel, Durham, Hamilton or Toronto” and shares tales of the benefits found in active transportation.
In their 9th video, TCAT features Pam Damoff, Town Councillor for Ward 2 in Oakville. Pam is the recipient of the 2013 Bicycling Leadership Award and is considered a “political champion for cycling and walking in the region of Halton.” Pam is also the founder of Cycle Oakville and has implemented numerous community initiatives to encourage residents to hop on bikes or walk more often.
Oakville has made great strides in the promotion and development of active transportation networks in their municipality. The Oakville Active Transportation Master Plan guides how the city will utilizes and further develops their active transportation networks.
Below you will find Pam Damoff’s It’s Your Move video as well as links that further detail Oakville’s plans to become a move active transport community.
