Toyota Canada to Accept Clean Air Day Award at the Toronto Smog Summit

Toyota Canada is the recipient of a national Clean Air Day Award for its contribution to the development and production of hybrid vehicles. The award was presented at the 8th annual Toronto Smog Summit, an event produced by The Clean Air Partnership.

Toyota has been researching and developing the hybrid system with the aim to achieve low emissions and to conserve energy for over 30 years. Their first gas turbine hybrid, low emissions, vehicle was developed in 1970 and they began researching electic vehicles. An electric motor development program was established in the 1980s.

Stephen Beatty, Managing Director of Toyota Canada accepted the award at the Smog Summit. The Summit brings together Federal, Provincial and Municipal government leaders to discuss smog, air pollution and greenhouse gases.
