Help students apply environmental learning at school and at home... Deliver the energy conservation curriculum through 20/20 The Way to Clean Air and help your students and their families fight air pollution and climate change.

Last year, thousands of students and their teachers helped tackle air pollution and climate change by taking action in their homes to reduce energy use.

Teachers and students can make a positive difference in helping to protect the health of our environment by participating in 20/20 - a campaign that clears the air by helping students and their families find ways toreduce home energy and vehicle use by 20%.

20/20 The Way to Clean Air EcoSchool program provides energy conservation lesson plans and action checklists that help deliver the energy conservation curriculum in a fun and engaging way.

How to Participate

1. 20/20 The Way to Clean Air EcoSchool Program is perfect for helping deliver the Energy Conservation curriculum and enables students to put their learning into practice at home. It is also a perfect complement to other environmental events your school may participate in such as International Walk to School Week in October, Earth Week in April or Clean Air Day in June.

2. Order 20/20 Planners for each student and build this step-by-step action guide into your classroom unit on Energy Conservation. Students then take home the 20/20 Planner and select the energy conservation practices they will put into action at home for a 2 week period. The 20/20 Planner also provides suggestions for ways families can reduce vehicle use. 20/20 has something for every family - kids in apartments can turn off lights and families who live in a house can try draft-proofing.

3. Select from a variety of 20/20 Lesson Plans (available in English et en francais) to deliver the Energy Conservation Curriculum in the classroom.

4. After the two week period students can report their family’s energy conservation actions via the 20/20 online calculator (link to calculator) or teacher’s can collect the 20/20 Planner checklists from their students and send them to us so we can calculate the classroom’s contribution to clean air and greenhouse gas reductions.

There is even a 20/20 Teacher’s Guide that gives teachers more information on 20/20 and how it connects to the curriculum. The guide also provides some fun activities to enrich student learning, such as “The Energy Jeopardy Game” and “Clean Air Trivia Tag.”

20/20 EcoSchools Planner

The 20/20 EcoSchools Planner is a step-by-step guide designed for a Grade 5 reading level. It outlines activities for kids and their families to take in order to reduce home energy and vehicle use by 20 percent.

20/20: The Way to Clean Air EcoSchools Program in Action
Over 400 classrooms in the GTA participated in the 2008 -2009 EcoSchools program. Educators who returned their student’s conservation assignments to the Clean Air Partnership were automatically entered in contests for presentations from the Clean Air Champions by National or Olympic athletes, Scientists in the School Classroom Workshops and pizza lunches.
